Watch Local 3D Movies on Android with Luxid Vue
Learn the local SBS and HSBS 3D video workflow, glasses shortcut and Android 3DoF player compatibility.
What do you need to watch a 3D movie?
You need a compatible local 3D video file—commonly side-by-side (SBS) or half-side-by-side (HSBS)—and a player that can present that format. A streaming link is not the same thing as a local 3D file, and the glasses cannot create stereoscopic depth from an ordinary 2D movie.
The Luxid Vue Android app includes a 3DoF media player for supported spatial and 3D content. You can also use a basic media player with a compatible local file and switch the glasses to 3D mode by pressing and holding the glasses’ control for about three seconds, as described in the product setup guidance.
A simple setup sequence
First copy or download a 3D file you are entitled to use onto the Android device. Connect the glasses through a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, open the file in the player, and select the matching 3D layout if the player asks. If using the glasses shortcut, confirm the mode change before continuing playback.
The experience depends on the source file’s format and the app’s decoding support. If the image looks duplicated or incorrectly split, check whether the file is SBS or HSBS and select the corresponding playback mode rather than changing screen scale at random.
- Use a local SBS or HSBS video
- Match the player’s 3D layout to the file
- Use the Android app’s player or a compatible media player
Why local playback can be more predictable
A local file avoids buffering from a changing network connection. It also gives you control over the exact format and playback app. That can make troubleshooting easier: verify the file on the phone first, then connect the glasses and confirm the 3D layout.
For ordinary 2D viewing, use normal display mode. The 3D shortcut is for compatible stereoscopic content, not a universal 3D conversion feature.
