An Engineer’s Field-to-Desk Multi-Screen Workflow
Use a portable display for engineering drawings, specifications and field reviews while keeping validated design work on approved tools.
Keep the drawing and its context together
Engineering reviews often require a drawing, a specification, and a list of open questions. A multi-screen layout can keep those views nearby during a design discussion or field reference session. The engineer can use the connected PC to run the CAD or documentation software and use the glasses as a portable display.
For quick field checks, this can reduce the need to balance several devices. For precision modeling, color-critical review, or detailed measurement, continue to use the calibrated monitor and tools specified by the engineering team.
A useful Windows app layout
Use one screen for the drawing or model, one for specifications, and one for the issue list or meeting notes. The Windows app offers single, dual, triple, and grid layouts; choose the smallest layout that keeps the needed context visible. Follow mode can keep active material in view, while pin mode can help maintain a stable screen position.
The same principle applies on other supported platforms: the glasses do not replace engineering software. They give that software another display arrangement.
- Drawing or model: primary workspace
- Specification: reference workspace
- Review notes: actions and questions
Evaluate before standardizing
Test the actual files, font sizes, and software workflows used by the team. Check how the display behaves during a seated review and whether the current app build supports the host computer and required layout. For safety-critical design approval, follow the team’s established review and sign-off process.
VueAR Glass is best understood as a portable companion display for engineering context—not a promise that every CAD package becomes spatial or that design validation can be skipped.
