Luxid Vue on iPhone: App vs Display Mirroring
Compare iPhone display output with Luxid Vue’s iOS app, three-screen workspace, browser and raycaster controls.
Will Luxid Vue work with an iPhone without the app?
A compatible iPhone and connection path can use the glasses as an external display. In that direct mode, the glasses show the phone’s output; the Luxid app is not required for basic mirroring. Check the exact iPhone model and adapter or cable requirements before relying on a wired display connection.
The distinction is important for comparison searches: direct mirroring is the simplest setup, while the Luxid Vue app provides app-specific screens and controls. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee that every device supports video output.
What the iOS app adds
The iOS app provides a three-area workspace with a working browser and app spaces, plus raycaster or cursor control using the phone. This is useful for keeping a web reference visible beside another activity instead of repeatedly switching the entire phone display.
The current iOS app should not be described as offering 3DoF screen anchoring: that capability is not part of the iOS feature set described here. The practical value is the app workspace and pointer interaction, with direct display mode as the simpler fallback.
- Basic path: display output from a compatible iPhone
- App path: browser and separate app surfaces
- Control: move the phone as a cursor or raycaster
Choose based on the job
For a quick video or a presentation already on the phone, direct display output may be enough. For browsing and a more organized task layout, use the Luxid Vue app. In either case, verify model compatibility and the cable or adapter before a trip or meeting.
This app-versus-mirroring comparison is the key decision: the glasses provide the display, while the iOS app adds Luxid’s software workflow.
